Park Creation
Vanoise National Park was the first of the French parks to be created in 1963. The idea behind the creation was to save the ibex, a species that had virtually disappeared from the Vanoise mountains at the time.
The National Park is a monument of nature, recognized both nationally and internationally an exceptional area not only for its landscape, but also as a haven for plant and wildlife.

National Parks are a combination of outstanding natural areas, protected biodiversity and management methods that enable them to preserve their resources. A common feature is their determination to conciliate the protection of nature and the development of human activities, respecting customs and traditions.
